Traditionally used in China since 1000 years, Cordyceps is a wild and extremely rare mushroom. It has the extraordinary capacity to tone the organism and assure longevity. The Chinese ingested it for treating tuberculosis, coughing, anaemia, articulation pain as well as during a convalescence. Three double-blind studies in a medical university in Peking and concentrated on 200 men indicated that Cordyceps, with a daily dose of 3 g, is efficient for stimulating the deficient sexual functions. 64 % of men suffering from impotence have noted a significant improvement of their sexual life. Within another study on 21 elder women suffering from similar dysfunctions, 90 % have announced an improvement of their libido after the use of Cordyceps. The aphrodisiac qualities of Cordyceps have also been proven by researches done in Japan. Scientists suppose that Cordyceps has similar effects as sexual steroid hormones, which could explain an increase of the libido within elder people.
Several studies have demonstrated that Cordyceps improves the blood flow in the body and has vaso-dilating proprieties. It reduces by this manner the contractions of the blood vessels, the principal cause of “heavy legs”.
A daily intake of 4- 5 g of Cordyceps improves the oxygen consummation, the cardiac rhythm, the anaerobic threshold within running athletes and endurance multi-sports. Cordyceps improves the fat metabolism and allows saving the use of muscular glycogen during prolonged exercise.
Cordyceps could increase the level of good cholesterol (HDL) and lowers the total cholesterol level. It would be a good adjuvant to treatments, which try to improve the function of the cardiovascular system.
